Aeolos Hotel

This certainly isn't your average hotel. In fact, it's got so much going for it, it's difficult to know where to begin. The owner's an architect who built the place on the site of an old olive press that's been in the family for decades. The aim was to create somewhere that's quite unlike a conventional hotel - much more intimate and private. And the result is impressive to say the least. Put simply, it's a complex of seven buildings dotted across two acres of gardens. It's right in the heart of Horefto but it's wrapped in chunky stone walls so you're guaranteed absolute privacy and plenty of peace and quiet. Your accommodation here comes in the shape of either a studio or apartment. Both come with a twin bedroom - plus an extra fold-up bed if you're travelling in a three - and a bathroom and fully-equipped kitchen. The only difference is that the apartment comes with a lounge area. It's like having your own little home – only with lots more sunshine. In terms of decor, they've got a rustic feel to them. Whitewashed walls act as a blank canvas for character features like wood-beam ceilings, cool tile floors and cosy fireplaces. Step outside though and you'll find all the perks of staying in a hotel. There's a reception where helpful staff will make sure you're well looked after. There's a swimming pool cocooned in greenery. There's even a bar where you can enjoy a cocktail or a coffee, whatever the time of day. And when you're ready to venture out, you'll find that Aeolos Hotel scores highly on the location front, too. It's less than a minute's walk to the beautiful beach of Horefto, whose silky sands are sandwiched between the emerald slopes of Mount Pelion and the deep blue of the Aegean. The traditional village of Zagora, meanwhile, is just a ten minute drive away. With all this going for it, there's no wonder the owners decided to make Aeolos Hotel their home. After a stay here, you'll probably wish you could do the same.
